The Year of Faith

SAINT PETER AND SAINT PAUL
We celebrate the feast of the princes of the apostles,
from whom we derive our Christian faith. The Lord
stood by them and gave them power, so that through
then the whole message might be proclaimed to all the world.

My Dear Friends,

All of us priests are given our appointments by our Bishop, and I have been very fortunate in the six I have had over 33 years. But my time here at St Gregory the Great has been very, very special indeed and I thank all of you for that. There will be an opportunity for us to make our proper farewells on St Gregory's Day (8th Sept) and I look forward to seeing everyone here on that day. The next weekend Mgr Paul McGinn will take over. He is a man of great pastoral experience and I know you will take him, as you did mum and me, to your hearts. Please remember both of us in your prayers.

In September of 2006, Pope Benedict XVI gave a homily in which he explained that those who are baptized create one family of believers who are never alone, and the Peter's Pence collection, to be taken up this weekend, emphasizes this by uniting us to the Holy See and allows the Pope to respond to our suffering brothers and sisters with love, and compassion.

Furthermore, the money we give supports the Holy Father's philanthropy by also giving him the means to provide emergency assistance to those in need because of natural disaster, war and oppression. Please be as generous as you can - thank you.

God Bless.

WALK WITH ME

There is no class this week. Last class of this term will be on Mon. 8th July. Classes will then recommence in Sept.
