MARTHA AND MARY

JESUS OUR FRIEND
The mystery of today's celebration is
Christ among us as our friend. We welcome
him as Abraham welcomed the Lord at Mamre

My Dear Friends,

No doubt many of you will be setting of on your summer holidays very shortly. I hope it will be a happy and holy time for you all, and that you will return truly refreshed. However it is important that we remind ourselves of one very important point whilst we are away.

As Catholics we know that we are 'obliged' to be at Mass every Sunday; and when we are away on holiday this adds a new and extra dimension to this “honour” ~ for everywhere we go there is a Catholic church we can attend. Certainly what we find may be very different to what we are used to, but such variety reminds us of the universal nature of the Church and what it means to be a member of a church that is truly “Catholic.” Of course, it can often be very difficult to find a Catholic church, but let's remember, God never forgets us, so let us try not to forget Him! Let's see what we can find!!.

Finally on Saturday, September 7th - as part of the Year of Faith, the Altar Servers Guild are going on pilgrimage to Walsingham. Many of you will remember the delightful day we had some years ago when we went there. If you are interested in going please sign the list at the back of the church, servers will go free, others will need to pay for the coach; the price depends on the numbers of people who wish to go! Sign up today.

God Bless.
