My Dear Friends,
As we gather for Mass this weekend a large candle burns in Lourdes for the life and witness our parish. About 800 members of our Diocese gathered with our Archbishop last week for the diocesan pilgrimage. It was, as always, a most joyful and prayerful occasion and if you wish to see what it was like go to the Diocesan website and view the daily "blog"!
Many, many prayers were offered for families and friends and amongst those were my own for us here at South Ruislip. It was good to reflect and pray together but as always it's good to be home!!
May I take the opportunity of the weekly newssheet to remind everyone, as I do every year, that our morning Mass on St Gregory's Day (8th September and our parish day of festival) will be at 11.00 is? This will be my last day as your parish priest, so I do hope that many of you will wish to gather with me for our special day of festival. Also, please, don't be caught out - make a note of the time in your diary TODAY!!
Finally I am deeply grateful for Fr William Aso's visit - it's good to have him back - Father welcome!!
God Bless.
DAY FOR LIFE 2013
'Jesus teaches us to care for life because it is the image of God who is absolute life. All of us must care for life, cherish life, with tenderness. To give life is to open our heart, and to care for life is to give oneself in warmth to others.' Pope Francis - A Day for Life
A WEEK OF ACCOMPANIED PRAYER - 22nd - 28th September
This special week aims to help people, no matter what stage their prayers lives are at, to enrich and deepen their spirituality. It is a week when you can spend a little time every day developing your prayer life. More information about this initiative is to be found in the porch as well as registration leaflets. Please help yourself!.
ASSISTANCE WITH LAUNDRY
When Fr. Paul takes over as Parish Priest he will be looking to employ someone to take care of the laundry requirements of the presbytery. This post would also involve the preparation of the large altar linen. If you, or someone you know is interested, please get in touch.
1ST RECONCILIATION AND HOLY COMMUNION
Parents of children hoping to make their 1st Reconciliation and 1st Holy Communion in 2013/2014 are asked to collect a registration form from the church porch and to return the completed application to the Presbytery before 20th September. These forms are for children who will be in Year 3 (or above)
