My Dear Friends,

As we gather for Mass this weekend a large candle continues to burns in Lourdes for the life and witness our parish and Diocese. About 600+ members of the Diocese of Westminster gathered with Abp. Vincent and with Bishop John Sherrington for our annual Diocesan Pilgrimage.

It was, as always a most joyful and prayerful pilgrimage. Many, many prayers were offered, for the sick, the departed, for families and friends and amongst those were my own for all of us here at South Ruislip.

Looking ahead. Don't forget that the morning Mass on Sunday 2nd September will be at 11 am when we celebrate the feast day of St Gregory the Great. I have no doubt the parish social committee will be looking for help soon, so please make a note of the time and date in your diary now.

Fr Adrian has written to say how much he enjoyed his visit to St Gregory the Great last weekend and was most grateful for your kindness and generosity.

Finally on 11th October 2011 Pope Benedict XVI announced a "Year of Faith" which will begin on the 11th October 2012. "This" he said, "will be a good opportunity to usher the whole Church into a time of particular reflection and rediscovery of faith."

The Year provides a wonderful opportunity for, the Catholic community in England and Wales to be renewed in, to celebrate and share the joy of our faith in Jesus Christ. I do hope that we here at St Gregory the Great will take an active part in this. I will publish further details after the summer break.

God Bless.
