My Dear Friends,

Today we celebrate and give thanks to Almight God for the life and example of St. Gregory the Great.  It is a truly important day for our community, but of course it is also this year, a day of great change.  For as I "launch out into the deep" (Luke 5:4) to take on the responsibilities of a new community, which I cannot deny I am rather apprehensive about, so also all of you are looking forward to welcoming Mgr Paul and Fr Alan to the presbytery, and wondering what they'll be like?

Well on that front you can relax.  I do not know Fr Alan well, but Mgr Paul, your new parish priest, is a gentle and holy man whom I feel sure you will grow to love.

On a personal level, these have been the most profound years of my ministry and there is so much that I have to give thanks to God, and to all of you, for.  Your care and genuine love for my dear mum and me, was evident from the day of our arrival; and at that time of my mum's death I was very, very aware of the prayers, love and the affection that surrounded and sustained me.  I cannot believe that I have been here for eleven years, but in that time WE have a built a wonderful community.  My prayer for you all is that YOU will continue to witness joyfully to your faith so that the love of Christ is manifest here.

God Bless,               Fr. Dennis
