My Dear Friends,

Our 10 am Mass this weekend is our celebration of the harvest. It is our opportunity to give thanks to Almighty God for his many precious gifts to us. In the light of his generosity we ask ourselves how can I help to relieve the sufferings of those who have little? An obvious answer is, of course by giving to CAFOD. There will be a retiring collection for their work after all Masses this weekend.

This week sees the official launch of the "Year of Faith," and we are all invited to the Cathedral on Thursday at 5.30 pm for a special Mass. But what is the Year of Faith? Pope Benedict said that in this coming year we should look at faith as a "lifelong companion that makes it possible to perceive, ever anew, the marvels that God works for us. Faith commits every one of us to become a living sign of the presence of the Risen Lord in the world."

Finally there are a number of 'Group Reflection' booklets available in the porch to help us share the Gift of Faith with others. They are on sale for just 1.50; get yours today!

God Bless.

CONFIRMATION 2013

Those wishing to make their Confirmation next year and who are now in Year 9 at school are invited to collect a form from Fr. Dennis after Mass. Please note that only the candidates themselves may pick up a form and applications will NOT be accepted after 30th October.

THE SOCIETY FOR THE PROTECTION OF UNBORN CHILDREN (SPUC)

will be holding a membership appeal next weekend. Every year in Britain 200,000 unborn babies die under the Abortion Act. SPUC's work is to protect unborn children and their mothers from abortion and joining the Society is an excellent way to express your solidarity with the unborn child.
