The Year of Faith

CHRIST MAKES US HIS APOSTLES

We are utterly unworthy to be the apostles of Christ
and yet he sends us out to be fishers of men. He
cleanses us from our sins and gives us the strength to say:
'Here I am Lord, send me!'

My Dear Friends,

This Wednesday we shall once again begin the season of Lent. These 40 days are given to us, not only to accompany Christ through His passion and death to the glory of the Resurrection, but also so that we may use the time to learn more about our Christian faith.

There is a great danger of us seeing Confirmation as the end of our journey of instruction in the faith and this is very wrong. So Lent is a vitally important time for us to learn more through prayer and study. With this in mind the "Walk With Me" booklets, especially written for these 40 days and consisting of daily meditations and reflections, are on sale in the porch. I hope that many of us will purchase them - just 1.

There will also be a series of Lenten talks about our faith after the Stations of the Cross each Friday beginning on the 21st - more details next weekend. There is also the opportunity for us to explore our faith in a relaxed environment at the Sacred Heart. See the poster in the porch for details about this and to sign up - all are most welcome.

Finally, and as always, our very grateful thanks to Fr Tim for 'holding the fort' whilst I am way in Lourdes.

God Bless.
