FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT

OUR LIBERATION FROM FEAR

Fear is the most crippling of all the emotions and
there are many things in this world to make us afraid.
But today we lift up our souls to Christ who comes to
deliver us from fear. We stand erect, hold our heads
high and dwell in confidence.

My Dear Friends,

'The beautiful task of Advent is to awaken in all of us memories of goodness and thus to open the doors of hope'

Thus wrote our Holy Father some years ago and our most important memory of goodness is surely the birth of Jesus? So, these Advent days must be a time of humble devotion, commitment and prayer. Prayers from us who walk in darkness and who are awaiting and anticipating a great light.

To help us on our journey I would ask you to consider buying one of the "Walk With Me" booklets to help you on your journey. They cost just 1 and are real bargain!

The Posada statue will begin it's journey to Bethlehem at the end of the 10 am Mass this Sunday. It is still not to late to join in and lists are still in the porch.

Finally, it has taken some time to assimilate all the data about our recent Stewardship Campaign and I am very grateful to Gillian and Francis for all their hard work. The results are as follows: on average the weekly giving envelopes are up 50% and our Standing Orders are up some 63%. - the loose plate remains constant.

This is a truly splendid result - thank you all very, very much indeed for your affection and care of our Church and community.

God Bless.
