My Dear Friends,

Next Sunday sees the start of our 1st Holy Communion season, and not long after that we will be welcoming Bishop Alan Hopes to administer the Sacrament of Confirmation. Please pray for our young people as they take these important steps in their lives, but also remember all those who have helped to prepare them.

We are truly blessed to have wonderful catechists in our parish, but there is always room for more! So ask yourselves could I fulfil this joyful ministry?

The answer in many cases is 'yes' - for you do not need a degree in theology; all you need is genuine desire to pass on your love of the Lord to the next generation! Please think about this seriously and speak to me if you would like to know more.

Finally I am away in Galway at the Canon Law Conference next week, but our life here will go on as usual. I am deeply grateful to Fr Tim Dean (who is becoming a regular visitor) for making this possible. Thank you Father! Believe it or not this will be my first visit to the Republic of Ireland! I am really looking forward to being there and hope that, in spite of the conference, I will get the chance to see some of the beautiful countryside.

God Bless.
