The Year of Faith

THE LORD IN WHOM WE PUT OUR TRUST

Like Abraham we are called by God to a new homeland.
We are not to rest in the material comforts of this world,
but to move onwards to the land of promise,
where the Lord will transfigure our mortal bodies
into the likeness of his glory.

My Dear Friends,

On Thursday our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI sets down his heavy burden. To mark this event in the life of our parish and to spend time in grateful prayer, there will be a Holy Hour from 7 - 8 pm. This will be followed by a brief, informal talk in the hall about the Conclave and how the Church goes ahead in choosing a worthy successor to this holy man; all are welcome. There are some prayer cards available in the porch with a special prayer for his Holiness, do help yourself.

It is always wonderful to see the extra attendance at weekday Mass during this season, and I pray that more of us will take the opportunity to spend time in front of the Blessed Sacrament on Saturday morning as well as Friday evening. It may be difficult to be there the entire time, but surely we can find a few minutes to pop in and pray?

Last Friday was the family fast day; our opportunity to help support CAFOD in its work, and an invitation to fast as an act of solidarity with the poor, and to donate what we have save to help the disadvantaged of our world. Our Family Fast Day envelopes will be taken up at the end of Mass this weekend. Thank you for your generosity.

God Bless.

PRAYER FOR POPE BENEDICT XVI

Almighty ever-living God, who has given your faithful servant Benedict grace to maintain his faith and hope in you amid the labours of his apostolic ministry; graciously bestow upon him, we pray, the consolations of your Holy Spirit and uphold him in sincerity of life. Through Christ our Lord. Amen

WALK WITH ME PROGRAMME

Are you able to spare a couple of hours on a Monday evening to help with this important task? We are looking for adults to assist children who are not attending catholic schools to receive a better knowledge of the Catholic faith. Please speak to Fr. Dennis if you are able to help out with this wonderful work.

LENTEN MISSION - ST RAPHAEL'S, YEADING
